This brief was to create a coffee-table book showcasing the work of Neal Preston, one of the greatest rock photographers of all time. Exhilarated And Exhausted is a complete retrospective of his 40-year-plus career, with a foreword by Neal’s close friend, the renowned writer and film director Cameron Crowe (Jerry Maguire, Almost Famous).
Each image was carefully placed within the book so as to best compliment those around it and tell the story Neal was trying to portray. This exceptional volume is a who’s who of rock royalty. Neal was the official tour photographer for Led Zeppelin, Queen, Bruce Springsteen and The Who, and has also shot The Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac, Michael Jackson and many more. The book includes his portraits, backstage moments, live performances, post-performance highs and lows and previously unseen outtakes.
This is the first time Neal has allowed unrestricted access to the archive; considered one of the music industry’s most significant photo collections. We looked through thousands of images to select what we believed to be his finest to reproduce in one career-defining volume. The images are further brought to life by Neal’s accompanying text; offering a mind-blowing insight into life as a rock’n’roll photographer.
